Brush DC Motors

Kollmorgen’s family of brushed DC motors offers an extremely wide variety of sizes and package types.

Kollmorgen’s Direct Drive frameless torque motors come in a wide variety of frame sizes, stack lengths, and options for customizing. These motors are typically used where high servo stiffness, fast response, and low speeds with high accuracy are required. The frameless torque motors (consisting of a rotor, stator, and brush ring assembly) are designed in as an integral part of a system thus saving weight and space. Typical applications include azimuth and elevation pedestals, pointing & tracking systems, targeting sights, surveillance systems, and aircraft fire control systems.

Our ServoDisc products are a family of axial airgap, pancake style motors where the magnets are mounted on endplates which create an axially aligned magnetic field instead of a radial field. Several key advantages of ServoDisc motors include a much flatter package size, zero cogging due to their slotless/ironless design and very high accel/decel rates due to very low inertia. These motors are ideal for applications requiring fast moves and smooth rotation. Typical applications include anesthesia machines, blood pumps, and respirators for biomedical industry, as well as various applications within semiconductor, process control and instrumentation markets.

Kollmorgen PMDC motors offer value and performance. With over 40 NEMA standard models to choose from ranging from ¼ to 3HP with many options and customization opportunities available, it is no surprise that the PMDC products are used in a wide variety of markets and applications. PMDC motor design is based on permanent magnets in place of a wound field to enable a lighter, more compact and efficient motor with wider speed range. Motors are UL Recognized and CSE certified.
